We went to Great Wolf Lodge again for Spring Break this year. The kids had a blast! We were very happy that Christopher and Caleb enjoyed the water almost as much as Emma this time. Before heading to Great Wolf Lodge, we stopped by Tuttle to check out the new playhouse.

Thanksgiving at Big Cedar Lodge

We spent Thanksgiving this year at Big Cedar Lodge with my parents and my brother’s family. We had a great time! We ate Thanksgiving dinner there at Big Cedar, went to Silver Dollar City, rode the Polar Express, spent time at Branson Landing, and saw the Titanic Museum. I think Emma’s favorite part was swimming at Big Cedar and Christopher’s was playing at their Lincoln Log Table. On the drive home we hit the Precious Moments Chapel.

All in all we had a great time. However, we did decide that 4 days and 3 nights was too long to keep the kids out of their normal sleep cycle! Need to limit it to 2 nights or enforce the standard nap times (at least for the little guy!). Our Destin trip next summer, which is going to be even longer, should be real interesting!

Spring Break Part 1: St. Louis

This year for Spring Break we went on our first family vacation since Christopher was born. We went to St. Louis. This was the first time for the kids to fly in an airplane, and that ended up being Emma’s favorite part.

While in St. Louis we visited the Arch the first day, and the City Museum and St. Louis Zoo the second day. The Arch was amazing, but we were totally unprepared for the amount of time we would have to wait to go up into it.

I highly recommend the City Museum for anyone with kids. Emma had a blast. Make sure to keep a close eye on your kids, though. I lost Emma for a brief period of time while there and it was some of the most terrifying moments of my life.

The St. Louis museum was good, but by the time we got there the kids were so exhausted that they were ready to get back to the hotel, so we didn’t end up spending as much time there as we would have liked normally.

We also spent a lot of time at the hotel swimming and resting up.

We had a great time on our St. Louis trip. More pictures from our trip are here. Now we are in Tuttle watching the snow fall and waiting for Connor’s birthday party, and the second part of our Spring Break.

Eureka Springs

Our 10 year wedding anniversary is this June. We originally had planned to take a big trip in June to celebrate, but then we discovered that we were pregnant with number three, so we decided to take a smaller trip earlier, before the baby comes.

We went to Eureka Springs and stayed at the Evening Shade Inn. I highly recommend this bed and breakfast to anyone looking for a romantic getaway. The innkeepers, Clark and Donna Hinson, were terrific. They brought a delicious breakfast right to our cabin every morning and dessert every evening. We were looking for a relaxing weekend, and this was the perfect place for it.

We rode the trolley around town and did some shopping in the historic district. This was especially interesting because of the wintry mix that turned into huge snowflakes as we shopped. We felt a little crazy walking down the street in that kind of weather, but it was fun and certainly memorable.

We toured the Crescent Hotel as well. This hotel was built in 1886 and is believed to be haunted. We took the Ghost Tour there and learned a lot of cool history, but didn’t see any ghosts . . . not that we really expected to see any!

We also checked out the Christ of the Ozarks statue. There was a great view of a snowy Eureka Springs from the mountain, including the Crescent Hotel that we had just toured the night before.

Our time in Eureka Springs was nice. It was exactly what we needed: a very relaxing weekend away from the craziness of life. More pictures are here on Flickr.
